Alert Otter
Frequent Photo
Yesterday, four river otters stopped me in my tracks at the Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge. I stood for almost an hour watching as they searched for food in a small creek. They watched me almost as intently in between searching for food and eating it.
One small piece of a plant forms a beauty mark on the cheek of this otter.
A year and a half ago I went to the refuge and came away determined to get a camera that could capture otters. Today, I got to see the results of getting that camera!

This is the first photo I processed. I hope to have several more in the next few days. (here’s one.)

Oh Kym,
I don’t know what that camera set you back, but it was well worth the investment. Wonderful photo !!!

Kym… That is certainly one of the finest otter pics I have seen. The first time I saw an otter, waaaaay back in 71, the critter came out of the water and growled at me. Never happened again.

Great shot.
Is that a tatoo of a tear on his right cheek? Has He been to prison?

Ernie’s funny. Love your otter shot! Can’t wait to see the others.

“Otterpotamous in Blue” could be the caption of that photo.
Time with otters is magic, that must feel great to have your wish fulfilled.
Wonderful photo, really… otterly wonderful.

I “otter” tell you that this is a fascinating photo Kym!
And, as good as expensive as the camera is, it doesn’t make any difference if you don’t have the “eye” to capture otters and other living things.
You have the eyes.

Across from CR at the Refuge there are meandering creeks that only fill when the tide is in. Ergo a bit of brine and seaweed.
