Class of ‘78

Carol suggested I try blogging about my problem.

We’re trying to find a few (OK, a lot of) lost souls for our upcoming July reunion. Not all of them graduated with us but they were all in our class at one time or another. If you have an idea where any of these people can be found, please contact me here or Craig Lehman at Redwood Properties.

  1. There you go, Kym –

I have seen announcements in newspapers for classes looking for classmates. Perhaps, writing a little blurb for the local papers with the list of names may be one way to go. Did you graduate from Fortuna or South Fork High School?

Also, I think you can post announcements on classmates.com, if I remember correctly.

  2. Might that David Huck fellow be any relation to Bob Huck, of Eureka?

  3. Bob Huck is from Santa Cruz County.

  4. I think the Hucks were So Hum’s but I’m not sure. We’ll try the paper announcement too. Thanks you guys.

  6. Thanks Carol, I know they used to live around Carlotta but I can’t get a current address or phone # for them but every piece of info I get will help me find them.

  7. You can probably get Marc Broussard at Broussard Property Management in Fortuna. They’re in the book.

I assume you’ve looked at places like classmates.com or reunion.com? I did a cursory look and found some of the people on there. Of course, to send them email you have to pay for the non-free membership, but you can post something on the Class of 1978 forum for free I think.

  17. Melanie, I’m a member of Classmates and sent out a letter last fall that got very few responses. But, you’re right, I shouldn’t give up. I sent out a new batch of messages. And reupped the reunion notice I had put up. It was gone. I don’t know what that was about. But hopefully, I will get some more responses this time.

Depending on how sleuthy you want to get, you can find a lot of contact info through some of the people search websites (it helps, too, if you know immediate family names–but you can get to married names pretty easily). Try usa-people-search.com or peoplefinders.com or peopledata.com or zabasearch.com for addresses). I had good luck finding a lot of people for a similar school reunion-type event using those tools, but it was a lot of work and my eyes started bugging out :-)

  19. Thanks for the great links. I’ll try them tomorrow. I’m already a little buggy eyed but it will be worth it to see everybody.

  20. Kym. I have Becky Blumemstock Trout’s address. How do I get it to you without blabbing it to the blogosphere?

  21. Ernie, Thank You. I would love to see her again. You should have my email address from the comments I leave on your blog but I will email you just in case blogspot is different.

    Kym,

the only one on the list that have had contact with in the last 20 years was Pat Caldwell. He lived in the San Jose area at the time. I am traveling at the moment, but I will see if I can dig up his old address.

  23. Scott, that would be great. I would love to talk to Pat again. He was such a nice guy!

Kym is the list above up to date and are they all still missing ? Why i ask is because quit a few of them are still in the Redway / Garberville area.

  28. I just got some more from you but by tonight it should be updated again. I know people are around but some I don’t know their new last names. Some aren’t listed in the phone book and some I’ve contacted (left messages for them) but never heard a reply. Until I know they got the message I’m not giving up. Some great people got missed out on last time (it is hard to get hold of people) and I’m doing my best to miss as few as possible this time.

Your help has been great. Any more you can think of would be wonderful. I can’t wait to see you. This is going to be a blast.
